QuickTime is a tool for manipulating graphics files and constructing and viewing
animation sequences. Starry Night Pro uses it to allow you to make movies of
Starry Night sequences and to save screen images from Starry Night as graphics
files. Starry Night will not run at all unless you have version 3 or later of
QuickTime (QuickTime 2 will not work).

QuickTime is on the Starry Night Pro CD. To install it, insert the Starry Night Pro CD into the CD-ROM drive (if you have a Macintosh, QuickTime is probably already installed on your computer). Choose "Install QuickTime" from the window that pops up. Follow the instructions that appear onscreen to install QuickTime on your computer. If no window pops up automatically, click the "Start" button on your desktop. Then choose "Run" and click the "Browse" button in the window that appears. This will open a window showing the files on your computer. In the field marked "Look in", make sure that the CD drive (labelled "Starry Night (D:)) is selected. A list of files and folders on the CD should now be shown. Double-click on the file named "QuickTimeInstaller.exe" and then click the "OK" button. Follow the instructions that appear onscreen to install QuickTime on your computer.

You should choose the "Full Install" option, as the moviemaking and image exporting
features in Starry Night Pro will not work properly if you choose the "Minimum
Install" option.

This usually occurs if you have other applications or utilities running at the same time you run the installer. You should close all other applications, including any anti-virus software utilities, and then try to run the installer again. On Windows, type the Ctrl-Alt-Delete keys at the same time to bring up a list of tasks running on your computer. End every task in this list except "Systray" and "Explorer" and then then run the installer again. If you still encounter errors, you may wish to visit the QuickTime support page.

When you install QuickTime, a window will come up which allows you the option
of entering a registration number for QuickTime Pro, which is a more advanced
version of QuickTime not included with Starry Night. You should leave all fields
in this window ("Registered to", "Organization", "Number") blank and hit the
"Next" button to continue with the QuickTime installation. When you run the
Starry Night program itself for the first time, a different window will pop
up asking for your name and registration number. You should now enter your Starry
Night registration number and it will will work fine.
