The name of the application file is "starrynight.exe" and it is in the "Starry Night Backyard 4" folder on your hard drive. On Windows, you can run the program by clicking the "Start" button on your desktop, then choosing "Programs | Starry Night Backyard 4".

This usually means that your computer doesn't meet the system requirements for Starry Night Backyard. See the next question for the system requirements.

Windows: Requires Windows 98/ME/2000/XP, 500 MHz or higher processor, 64 MB RAM and 300MB of hard disk space.

Macintosh: Requires OS X 10.1 or higher and 300MB of hard disk space. Will not run on OS 9.x or earlier.

For optimal performance: 700 MHz or higher processor, 256 MB RAM and 1.0 GB of hard disk space. OpenGLŪ support requires an OpenGLŪ capable graphics card (32 MB and above recommended). Optimized for NVidia GeForce and ATI Radeon based graphics cards.

Your computer may meet the minimum system requirements for Starry Night Backyard, but not the recommended system requirements. This appears to be a problem specific to the G4 processor. Turning off "processor cycling" in the Energy Saver Control Panel should fix the problem.

This error can occur if your monitor display is set to 256 colour mode. Right-click the mouse on your desktop background and choose "Properties" to open the Display Properties window. Click the "Settings" tab. Increase the "Number of colours" or "Colour Quality" to 16-bit (also known as high colour, or thousands of colours), 24-bit (also known as true colour, or millions of colours) or 32-bit, and then press "OK" to fix this problem.

To make Starry Night Backyard 4 the default program for opening .SNF files, right click ( Ctrl-Click and hold on the Mac) on an .snf file you saved and select "Open With->Choose Program (Other on the Mac)" from the contextual menu. A window will open with a list of applications. Select the Starry Night Backyard 4 application and click on the box that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file".
